THE NAMING CEREMONY OF HULL NO. S113

On the morning of April 10, HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co. Ltd (HVS) held a naming ceremony for the 63,000 DWT bulk carrier with hull no. S113, ordered by Greek shipowner, Thenamaris. The ceremony was attended by HVS President&CEO Mr. Song-Hag Kim, the company's board of directors, shipowner representatives including Mr. Konstantinos Petrocheilos, and distinguished guests from the Classification Societies DNV and LR.

  Significantly, Mrs. Vo Thi Lieu, a Vietnamese employee who has worked at HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding for 27 years since its inception, served as the godmother and named the vessel "SEAHABIT". During the ceremony, President&CEO Mr. Song-Hag Kim expressed his deep gratitude to Mrs. Lieu and all Vietnamese employees who have made invaluable contributions in shaping HVS into what it is today, and Mr. Konstantinos Petrocheilos, COO of the shipowner, also expressed his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of HVS employees and the godmother.

Thenamaris successfully took delivery of four (4) MR tankers from HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding in 2022 and has placed additional orders for four (4) 63,000 DWT bulk carriers and two (2) 115,000 DWT tankers. SEAHABIT is the first of these four bulk carriers. It has a length of 199.97m, a width of 32.26m, and a height of 11.2m, and is scheduled for delivery on April 17, 2024.

It is known that as of April 2024, HVS has delivered 5 out of 15 ships Since switching to the new shipbuilding business until now, HVS has built and delivered 171 ships, including bulk carriers with a tonnage of up to 87,000 tons, and oil tankers with a tonnage of up to 115,000 tons to many countries around the world.

The company has signed many orders, especially for two popular types of tankers i.e., 50,000 tons and 115,000 tons by mid-2027.
