STEEL CUTTING CEREMONY OF HULL NO. S580 (115,000  DWT LNG DUAL - FUEL LR2 TANKER)

       On July 30, HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (HVS) held a steel-cutting ceremony for Hull No. S580, marking the start of construction of the first vessel in a series of two 115,000-DWT LNG dual-fuel LR2 tankers for Union Maritime (United Kingdom).

       A key feature of this project is the integration of both LNG dual-fuel propulsion technology and the WindWing system, an innovative rigid sail technology that harnesses wind power to provide additional thrust. This advanced solution significantly reduces CO₂, SOx, and NOx emissions, improves fuel efficiency, and enhances operational performance. It also supports compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations in the global maritime industry while increasing the competitiveness and value of newly built vessels.

      The construction of these high-technology tankers further demonstrates HVS’s engineering capabilities, product quality, and reputation within the global shipbuilding industry. The project also marks another important milestone in the company’s transition toward green, smart, and sustainable shipbuilding.
